This unassuming Melbourne cafe may serve the best breakfasts in Australia.
Located in leafy Kensington opposite the train station, you will find the Corner on Bellair which is full of delicious food for any time of day, but the breakfasts are especially noteworthy. The food is fantastic and the menu and staff are very kids friendly.
The Corner is nice and cosy with tables both inside and outside. It is a good size with enough tables to have some atmosphere while still feeling friendly and local. The seating is comfortable enough and we have been able to fit our stroller inside (leave the big prams at home).
It is situated on a leafy street at the end of a row of cafes and small shops. The outside tables have a nice outlook and are just perfect on a sunny Melbourne morning.
There is a crazy range of options at this cafe from the breakfast menu, Australian and Italian menus. There is also a “Thai at night” option which is meant to be delicious.
Our top choice, however, is “bunged inna pan”. It is sensational and worth the drive in itself.
It is a collection of breakfast ingredients – baked beans, sausages, tomato, bacon, eggs and lots of cheese – bunged in a pan and cooked beautifully with some great toast on the side. There is also a vegetarian option. Both taste brilliant and are very filling. This one serve can feed me and my two kids with an extra serve of toast.
This cafe is very family friendly. Our kids have generally been given colouring books, stickers and other things to keep them entertained. The staff seem genuinely happy when we walk in!
The menu is extensive so there should be no problems at all finding something your kids will want to eat.
We highly recommend this cafe for any family looking for a lovely local cafe which is family friendly with fabulous breakfasts.
